Dear Mr. Smith:
I am very pleased with the response my letter to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission has generated.
It is encouraging to know that my opinion and the opinion of others like me is taken into consideration.
Hr. Ross's letter to me dated July 6 adequately explained to me, in layman's terms, the precautions taken before the Davis-Besse Plant reopened DB-I.
The isolated incident at Three Mile Island was alarming but I also question the overall safety of these power plants.
How much radiation leaks out of these plants.
How much information is withheld from the public?
Would you, or Er. Ross or Mr. Hendrie move to a neighborhood that is within walking distance of one of the Nuclear Power Flants.
Is it safe to eat the fish caught in the lakes around the power plants?
Is it safe for our children to grow - living
' lose to Davis-Besse?
Are you and Toledo Edison - CEI being ruthful about the amount of radiation escaping from these y1 ants?
You asked if I wish to participate in any hearings on the matter.
If the hearings are close to my home - yes I would be happy to.
However, I have a baby and a three year old child tha t I have to c are. f or.
And, unlike any big business that may have an interest in these nuclear power plants, I do not have the funds available to attend any out of town hearings.
I as hoping that my public official will voice my opinion in my place.
