Task Assignment to Burns and Roe, Inc.
Your letter of July 6, 1979, requested that we consider-installation of a groundwater monitoring system.
In that regard, we have directed Burns and Roe to prepare a conceptual engineering package, as described in the attached memorandum, and we will use that package as the basis for a decision as to whether we should proceed with installation of such a system.
We will keep you advised of our progress in this area.
I expect that we will be prepared to discuss final dis-position of this matter in about two weeks.

Attached NRC Letter You are requested to perform the following work:
Via the referenced letter, NRC has asked us to consider installation of a groundwater monitoring program, to provide early detection of any leakage of high activity water from plant structures.
In this regard, please take action as fol2cws:
1.
Review the referenced letter a.
provide B&R's technical opinion as to the feasibility and effectiveness of the approach suggested by NRC.
2.
Prepare a conceptual engineering package for this work which defines I, umber, location, configuration and size (diameter and depth) of wells required, au.xiliary requirements (electrical power and others),
and discharge piping schematic.
3.
Prepare an approxir te cost estimate and schedule for the above work, taking into account availability of equipment and significant site impacts (if any) of the installation work.
4.
Assign a Ta'sk Number to this work.
Your response to this assignment is requested as soon as possible.
