'8 August 14, 1979 Hit TO REGUIDU fBRAl.FES 200M816 MEMORANDUM FOR: John T. Collins, Deputy Director TMI-2 Support FROM:

B. A. Boger, TMI-2 Support

SUBJECT:

AUDITS OF EPICOR-II OPERATOR 3 Audits on the EPICOR-II System have been started. To date, however, audits have been possible on only three Cap Gun employees. Met Ed personnel have not been interviewed due to a combination of incomplete qualification training and operator non-availability because of other assignments. Qualification training is predicted to be completed by the ead of August. The Met Ed audits will be scheduled accordingly.

The results of the audits have been satisfactory.

The operators have demonstrated a working knowledge of system components, normal operating techniques, and abnormal situations.

Basic principles of health physics were covered; however, the discussions were limited since full time health physics coverage will be present during EPICOR-II operations.

Present plans call for five qualified Cap Gun operators. Audits on the two remaining Cap Gun operators will be conducted concurrently with the Met Ed audits.

As you may be aware, several aspects of the EPICOR-II operation still require resolution. When the transf er cask arrives, the liner transfer process must be finalized--operating techniques, cask and truck alij;nment, TV monitor placement, etc.

In addition, an area (or trailer) be ' designated as the clean change area and health physics must controls must be established. These items are recognized by the Cap Gun operators.
