Risk-Informed Review Status Update

Delivering on a High Volume of Risk-Informed Licensing Requests For FY19, 41 unit amendment requests received to date. An additional 40 unit amendment requests are expected, for a total of 81 unit amendment requests in FY19.

- An additional six LAR approvals anticipated by September 30

- Staff presented with significant challenges in review regarding deviations from uncertainty guidance and interfacing systems guidance NRC staff led successful workshop on Key Assumptions/Uncertainty July 18, 2019 TSTF-505 RI Completion Times and TSTF-425 Surveillance Frequency Control Program

- Four TSTF-505 license amendments issued so far this FY

- One TSTF-505 SE for near-term issuance

- Other License Amendments recently completed successful combined audit at Exelon (Braidwood, Byron, and Limerick)

Received positive feedback from licensee regarding Staff conduct of audit

- Six TSTF-425 license amendments issued so far this FY

- Two TSTF-425 LAR approvals nearing issuance 4

Fire PRA Realism

6 Significant Progress Made on Addressing Fire PRA Realism Topics Most EPRI/RES Reports are nearly complete

  • Four NUREGs are in or post public comment period
  • NUREG on transient fire PRA modeling under development with expected completion of technical work in 2019 All but one Fire PRA FAQ are closed
  • Ten FAQs were resolved, withdrawn, or consolidated into research activities
  • Staff is expected to provide their position on the remaining open Fire PRA FAQ in September
