Dear Congressman Ireland:
It appears from the September 19, 1979, letter from Mr. David C. Prince to you that he is preparing a plan for Florida relating to construction of nuclear power plants in that state.
He wishes.to know to whom he should send it upon completion in order for it to be approved and adopted.
Tne responsibility to assure adequate supplies of energy in the state as a
+ ele rests with the state.
Mr. Prince would be well advised to check with the appropriate agency of the state of Florida.
In the state of Florida, Jm individual public utilities are required to supply adequate electric power to satisfy the demands of the residential, industrial, and commercial customers within their service areas.
The enclosed pamphlet (Enclosure 1) entitled " Licensing of Nuclear Power Reactors" presents a good sunmary of the licensing process for commercial nuclear power plants., the Report of the Siting Policy Task Force, NUREG-0625, in Section 2, outlines current NRC siting policy and practice.
We hope that this information is useful to Mr. Prince.
Sincerely,
~Dridnni signal by it. G. Smith deeV.Gossick Executive Director for Operations
