Dear Mr. Gammill:
This letter is in response to your letter of October 2,
1979 with respect to our acceptance of certification of NRC staff me mb e r s in radiation safety by Oak Ridge Associated Universities.
Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU) advised us of their intendea Radiation Safety course earlier this year.
At that time we compared our General Employee Training Lesson plan with their p rop osed course outline.
We verbally agreed that the material to be covered would be acceptable as a generic radiation protection training p rogram.
We will, therefore, accept certification of this training f or NRC personnel visiting Peach Bottom.
Such personnel, however, shall attend a short sub-module of training in emergency procedures, security, safety, and practices unique to Peach Bottom.
We have placed the NRC Radiation Safety Seminar schedule on file at our Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station and would appreciate additional detailed description of the various sessions.
We would als o app reciate timely notification of content changes to the program for our review so that we can satisfy ou rs e lve s of the continued accep tability of the certification.
Initial documentation of certification may be provided either by individuals upon arrival directly to the station security forces or by prior notification t h r ou gh the NRC Region I Office of Inspection and Enf orcement.
