Dear Mr. Hendrie:
I have been contacted by several of my constituents who are deeply concerned about the impact that the shutdown of the Three Mile Island facility will have on consumer prices for electricity.
As I understand it, there is hope that the number one reactor can perhaps be brought back into service within a reasonably short time, and that the sooner the better in terms of consumer prices.
Certainly I recognize the awesome responsibility for the public's safety which rests on the shoulders of the Commission.
I would not in any way want the Commission to act precipitously in bringing the number one reactor back into service.
I would, however, be deeply appreciative of your eval-untion as to when the number one reactor might be brought back on-line and your estimate of the impact that the downtime of both reactors will have on consumer prices.
I want you to know that I appreciate all your efforts and am confident that the Commission and its staff will continue -to move prudently and expeditiously to bring the number one reactor back on-line.
