Dear Members Of The Atomic Safety & Licensing Scard:
By letter dated October 22, 1979 counsel for the Nuclear Regulato;V Co==ission Staff has' informed you that the propcsed meeting between t.se Staff and the State of Illinois to discuss stipulations of contentiens has been cancelled.
Accordingly, the Staff concludes that l
it is net possible to negoitate a stipulation on these contentiens prior to the pre-hearing conference and reques that such a conference be scheduled by the Scard.

still favored meeting with it to negotiate a stipulation on the con-tentiens but that little could be gained by holding this meeting until the State had ec=pleted its revisions.
If it is the Board's intetion to schedule a pre-hearing con-ference in the near future the State of Illinois request that the parties of record be given 30 days advanced notice of such pre-hearing conference.
In that way other intervenors can submit revised con-tentions no later than 15 days prior to the pre-hearing conference, as provided by 10 C.F.R. 2. 714 (a) (3).
