Beaver Valley Power Station, Unit No. 1 Docket No. 50-334 License No. DPR-66 Response To NRC IE Bulletin No. 79-16 Gentlemen:

We have reviewed your IE Bulletin Fo, 79-16 which describes actions to be taken to provide positive control of personnel access to vital areas.

Our response is as follows:

1. We have reviewed the Beaver Valley Power Station MASP and have concluded that the plan, as currently written and approved by the NRC, addresses all the actions to be taken by the licensee as identified in IE Bulletin 79-16 without requiring modifications to the plan.
2. However, we intend to modify, by October 24, 1979, our vital area access control procedures to more closely reflect the criteria in Items 1 through 9 of IE Bulletin 79-16, except for Item 7b.

If you have any questions regarding this response, please contact my office.

Very truly yours, C. N. Dunn Vice President, Operations cc: United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission Office of Inspection and Enforcement Division of Safeguards Inspection Washington, D. C. 20555 1149 075 79? 0220 Lo 3
