Sjogren TELEPHONE (617) 366-9011 X2281 REPORT MONTH September 1979 SU'elARY OF OPERATING EXPERIENCES At the beginning of the month the plant commenced a load reduction from full load (197%) in preparat. ion for a scheduled four-week maintenance outage. By 1324 hrs. on September 1 the unit was off-line and by 1620 hrs. the reactor was subcritical.

Following shutdown the plant was cooled down and maintenance activities commenced. Some of the major maintenance items accomplished were as follows:

1.

Feedwater line inspection IAW IE Bulletin No. 79-13.

2.

Replacement on #1 RCP seal cartridge.

3.

Tie in of the repaired main transformer which failed in August of 1978.

4.

Retubing of 2 of the 4 condenser waterboxes using new SS tubes.

Following completion of the planned maintenance, the reactor was taken critical on September 27 and the unit phased to the grid on October 1.
