Distribution Systems Voltages (File: 1510, 2-1510)

Gentlemen:

In response to your letter dated August 8,1979, the following is provided as a response for Arkansas Nuclear Ore (ANO)-Units 1 and 2.

As you are aware, the subject incident in your letter was an event at At40 which occurred on September 16, 1978. Subsequent to this event, both the NRC and AP&L perfonned thorough reviews of the event and the plant designs. The results of these reviews, we believe, prompted your subject generic letter.

During the course of these reviews, significant correspondence was generated in addition to telecons, meetings, and a License Amendment as well as substantial

,ew analyses and proposed system modifications.

We currently understand that the f4RC has completed its review of this event and the ANO electrical systep. We further understand that the results of the NRC re-view conclude that the ANO electrical design and proposed modifications are accept-able to meet your requirements and to provide an adequate margin of safety to the public health and safety. We have been verbally notified that this issue is resolved for ANO and that a Safety Evaluation Report is being developed.

Therefore, we believe we have responded to the issues of your subject letter dur-ing the course of your review of the ANO electrical systems and that no specific response to your subject letter is necessary as the information has been previously provided.

Very truly yours, ebCWY 0 S h David C. Trimble Manager, Licensing ,
