The purpose of this letter is to supplement and clarify our letter dated July 11,1979, in response to the subject inspection report. The items below correspond with those in Appendix "A" of the subject inspection report.

Item lb - Gaskets, Sealants, etc. in HVAC Systems A surveillance was conducted by QA&S to determine what certification had been supplied that the materials supplied were in conformance with the specification requirements. The following is a summary of the findings.

Gaskets Waldinger-Young & Bertke purchase orders for SCE-43 gasket material specified that the supplier furnish a Certificate of Conformance to ASTM D 1056. The certifications, as supplied, referenced Grade SCE-43 which is a grade of material identified in ASTM D 1056. Although we believe that this uniquely characterizes the material, we have requested Waldinger-Young & Bertke to obtain a certification which stipulates in specific terms that the SCE-43 material supplied conforms to ASTM D 1056. , ,,

The receiving inspections were found to be appropriately documented, and the auditor independently verified the identity of material in storage. This is considered acceptable.

Flexible Connections Purchase Order 1H1500-011 was issued by the Waldinger Corporation in Des Moines, Iowa for Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company product E-59241-0348 which is the material specified by Sargent & Lundy.

The certification provided by the supplier was considered to be acceptable.

Item 2 - Welding Procedure The last paragraph under " Corrective Action Taken and Results Achieved" should be revised to read as follows:

"The existing welds were made by a procedure which had the same parameters as the above referenced procedure which was qualifiea for joining carbon steel to stainless steel. None of the existing welds have been inspected and accepted".

We trust that the above will serve as an acceptable supplement to our previous response.
