NRC STAFF MOTION FOR FURTHER EXTENSION OF TIME In an Order dated August 28, 1979, the Licensing Board granted the NRC Staff a ten-day extension of time in which to reply to the Applicants' Request for Hearing and Motion to Establish a Hearing Schedule on the effects of + '

Three Mile Island accident on the proposed Black Fox Station.

For the reasons listed below, the NRC Staff requests a further extension of time in which to reply to the merits of the Applicants' Motion.

On August 23, 1979, Mr. Harold Denton, the Director of Nuclear Reactor Regulation, appeared before the President's Commission on the accident at Threa Mile Island.

During the course of that proceeding, Mr. Denton indicated 1Mt the NRC Staff would not resume licensing activities on pending constructica and operating license applications until the Nuclear Regulatory Coirmission had considered whether such licensing action would be prejudicial to the pending President's Commission Report on Three Mile Island. Mr. Denton is currently scheduled to brief the Nuclear Regulatory Commission on the matter of 1151 005 3

_2 resumption of licensing on Thursday, Septemoer 6,1979.

Pending this action by Mr. Denton and any subsequent decision by the Commission, the Staff hereby requests a further extension of time until Monday, September 17, 1979 in which to reply to the Applicants' Motion to Establish a Hearing Schedule in thic case.
