Docket Nos. 50-443, 50-444 -Seabrook
Dear Mr. Denton:
On March 12, 1979, the Seacoast Anti-Pollution League, through this office, filed a Request for an Order to Show Cause why the Seabrook construction permits should not be suspended or revoked because of a lack of financial qualifi-cations on the part of the lead applicant in the light of current circumstances.
On May 2, 1979, the Seacoast Anti-Pollution League filed an Additicnal Request for an Order to Show Cause, directed to the fact that the Seabrook plant had been licensed for construc-tion without any analysis of a Class IX accident, and without demonstrating a capacity for evacuation of those persons beyond the low population zone, a circle whose boundary, in the case of the Seabrook plant, is drawn only 1.25 miles from the reactors.
Pursuant to 10 C.F.R.
S2. 206 (b) you are to take action on the request "within a reasonable time after a request...has been received."
Although I am aware that the staff has directed various questions to the Seabrook Applicants on the issue of financial qualifications, there has been no Staff decision on either of the Requests to Show Cause, and no Staff action, so far as we are aware, at all on the issue of evacuation, or analysis of the Class IX accident.
Could you advise what the inticipated schedule for Staff 4
action on these matters is?
p/
Very truly yours, h
{}
