Dear Mr. Chairman:

(:2 On April 5, 1979, I wrote to you concerning the IC events at Three Mile Island.

To date, I have f ailed to receive a thorough response to my i.uiry.

I realize that my questions deal, maninly, in long-term solutions, but any insight you can provide me will be greatly appreciated.

In the interest of simplicity, allow me to restate

~

my original questions posed to you:

e What effect will the incident at Three Mile Is-

[-

land have on nuclear plants presently under construction, in particular, the one at Limerick, Pennsylvania?

Will the design of the Limerick plant be re-o evaluated and/or modified:

Will the Commission be establishing new safety

~

e Z

criteria for plants presently under construction and,

=

if so, what changes do you contemplate?

I am sure you can appreciate my concern in view of the fact that a nuclear generating facility is presently being con.ctructed in my congressional district.

'I have received numerous letters from constituents residing in and around the power plant area expressing fear and dis-may over the construction of the Limerick facility.

As a result, I am anxiously awaiting your explanation as to what actions the NRC plans to take in dealing with other nuclear facilities, such as the one at Limerick.

NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION 1717 H Street, N.W.

Washington, D.C.

20555 F

Dear Mr. Chairman:

In light of the recent events at the Three Mile Island Nuclear plant in Harrisburg, I have received several inquiries from my constituents who are con-cerned about the construction of a similar plant in Limerick, Pennsylvania.

My questions are as follows:

e What eff ect will the Three Mile Island yh incident have on nuclear plants presently under con-g struction, in particular the one at Limerick?

e Will the design of the Limerick plant be R

reevaluated and/or modified?

Will the Commission be establishing new e

safety criteria for plants presently under construc-M h tion; and, if so, what changes do you contemplate?

I would appreciate a reply as soon as possible to these very important questions, so that I may adequately respond to the inquiries of my constituents.

Thank you for your time and consideration in this j'

matter.
