+~,3 NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION
- j. C WASHINGTON, D. C. 20555
% $ v [#h August 13, 1979 Mr. Barry Scott 524 South 24th Street IN RESPONSE REFER Philadelphia, PA 19146 TO F01A-79-266
Dear Mr. Scott:
This is in reply to your letter dated July 7,1979, in which you requested, pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, a copy of a study performed by the NRC on the potential hazards to consumers and to the environment resulting from the use and disposal of ionization type smoke detectors.
We have not located any recent documents subject to your request.
However, as a result of two previous F0IA requests (NRC FOIA-79-23, De Carolis and F01A-78-46, Hansell), the documents identified in Appendix A were placed in the NRC Public Document Room (PDR) located at 1717 H Street, N.W., Washington, DC 20555 where they may be inspected and copied.
Copies of these documents, which are filed under their respective F0IA case numbers, may be purchased by writing directly to the NRC Public Document Room, 1717 H street, N.W., Washington, DC 20555. The charge for reproducing recor's located in the PDR is eight cents ($0.08) per page, as specified in 10 CFR 9.14(a) of the Commission's regulations.
Upon your agreement to pay the reproduction charges, the PDR will arrange for the records to be reproduced by Potomac Research,1r.c., a private reproduction contractor servicing the PDR. You will be billed directly by Potomac Research, Inc. for the reproduction charges, plus tax and postage.
Sincerely, J.
.. Felton, Director Di ision of Rules and Records Office of Administration
