General Electric Company Small A/C Motor Products Department Docket No. 99900339/79-01 NOTICE OF DEVIATION Based on the results of an NRC inspection conducted on May 7-11, 1979, it appears that certain of your activities were not conducted in full accordance with NRC requirements as indicated below:
Criterion V of Appendix B to 10 CFR 50 states in part, " Activities affecting quality shall be prescribed by documented instructions, proceduces or drawings of a type appropriate to the circumstance and shall be accomplished in accordance with instructions, procedures, or drawings A.
Quality Assurance Manual,Section XII statcs in part, "All gages are marked or coded indicating their recalibration date.
," and that recalibration will be accomplished by the indicated date.
Contrary to the above, the following gages and instruments had not been calibrated within the specified time:
instrument due date for date calibration identification calibration completed TQ-26 9/6/78 4/23/79 TQ-34 11/11/77 3/18/78 TQ-41 1/23/78 5/9/78 TQ-41 11/6/.'8 4/23/79 In addition, two (2) instruments, an ammeter and a Wheatstone bridge located in the receiving inspection area, were in use although beyond their required periodic calibration, and eight (8) Setmasters were found in use, algo beyond their required recalibration date.
B.
Quality Assurance Manual,Section XII states in part, Meters are calibrated at specific intervals.
." Quality Control Requirement Section IV, Product Control, Sub-Section 5-1, Gage Control, states in part,
. A card system shall be maintained which documents history, accuracy required, use location.
. calibration date.
To facilitate recall, the master card for all gages.
. shall be grouped in the Recall File for calibration.
The recall system consists of reviewing the gage file, determining if gage required calibration.... A second card file shall be maintained... with cross-reference to location and d te due for calibration.
Contrary to the above, the following instruments were in use, had been identified on master calibration cards, were beyond the required calibration datec but recall cards had not been made and placed in the recall system for calibration:

Wattmeters W-46, W-64, W-74, W-77, W-10, and W-112.
Further, two (2) Setmasters for Intra-miks (micrometers) had no recall cards.
