30TICE OF DEVIATION Bar-d on the results of an NRC inspection conducted on May 14-17, 1979, it appeared that certain of your activities were not conducted in full compliance with NRC requirements as indicated below:
Criterion V of Appendix B to 10 CFR 50 states in part that, " Activities affecting quality shall be prescribed by documented instructions, procedures, or drawings,,
of a type appropriate to the circumstances and shall be accomplished in accordance with these instructions, procedures, or drawings.
In addition, weld procedure WP-1256, Revision 0, as referenced by route sheet No. 168487, specified that a shaft impeller be welded with a single J groove configuration at 24 to 28 volts.
Contrary to the above requirements, it was observed that welding of shaft impeller assembly identified in route sheet No. 168487 was:
(1) Being welded with a fillet weld.
(2) Being welded with 20 volts.
