The conference itself teck place in Seanle, Washington on April 24, and the agenda for the ccnference having been handled in an e:cpediticus manner, the conference itself ended Se same day.

DISCOVERY:

Initial discovery requests regarding any outstanding item which will be heard a: the hearing beginning July 17,1979 =ay not be made after June 1,1979, and supplemental discovery requests, that is, requests based on unsatisfactory respenses to any initial discovery reques, may not be made after ten days following receipt of the answer :o the initial discovery request which eccasioned the supplemental request (Tr.

The Board received a le::er from SCANP da:ed June 6,1979 stating that it objects to the Applicant's proposal :o introduce in:o evidence the "Bechtel Report" cn site geology 2: the scheduled July hear-ing on the basis that it had not yet been supplied " proprietary" exhibits to the report which it had requested. Since no answer to in:ervencr's iP6 302

8 statement has been received to date, it is assumed that applicant and intervenor have resolved de issue. If Sey have not, Se board re-quests dat they make every effort to settle the issue for$wi$, or otherwise to prese$1t promptly de matter in suitable detail :o the Board for a ruling.

Since the April 25 ccnference, de Scard has received several requests for limited appearances. The Board has decided to permit limited appearances at the beginning of de hearing scheduled to start on July 17. Limited appearances requested of the Beard since the g

April 25 conference are hereby granted to the following:

The Commissien's regulation at 10 CFR 5 2. 715(a), pertaining to limited.Lppearances, is pertinent:

"a A persen who is not a party me.y, in de dis-cretien of the presiding officer, be permitted to

=ake a limited appearance by making oral or written statement of his position on the issues at any session of the hearing or prehearing ecnference wi$in such limits and on such conditicns as may be fixed by the presiding officer, but he may not otherwise partici-pate in the prcceeding. "

In keeping with Se understanding left the Scard at the April 25 ccnference, the parties will have agreed prior to the hearing upon Se sequence of treating varicus subjects at the hearing beginning July 17 and upon the order for calling witnesses. A summary statement cf such informatien will be made available to $e board members so Sat Sey will have it in hand during the week preceding July 17 (Tr.11,949-11,950).
