Docket Nos. STN 50-522 and STN 50-523 Gentlemen:

Enclosed is the U.S. Geological Survey's (USGS) supplemen,t to the review (previous review dated February 23,1978) of the geologic and seismologic data pertaining to the Skagit Nuclear Power Project.

This supplement was transmitted to the NRC Staff on September 18, 1979 and constitutes the complete review of the Skagit project by the USGS except for a review of certain proprietary seismic profiles which have not yet been received by the USGS.

The USGS' review will be incorporated into the Staff's evaluation of the Skagit geologic and seismologic data. The Staff's review is new near completion and we expect to have it complete ~d by the end of September 1979 at which time we will transmit it to the Board and the parties. The Staff's review and evaluation will be incorporated into a supplement to the Staff's Safety Evaluation Report.

Sincerely, fw Richard L. Black Counsel for NRC Staff cc: w/ encl.
