Executive Director for Operations FROM:
Roger J. Mattson, Director Lassons Learned Task Force
SUBJECT:
INSTITUTE OF NUCLEAR F0WER OPERATIONS In my memoiandum to you of August 23rd, I discussed the results of a meeting held on August 17, 1979, with industry representatives on establishment of the Institute for Nuclear Power Operations.
At the ACRS meeting, held on September 6th, further discussion of the Institute was made by Mr. William Lee of Duke Power Company. A new discussion paper regarding the Institute was provided to ACRS and I am enclosing a copy now for your infonnation. It is generally consistent with our par understanding of the Institute's purpose and establishment.
At this poir,t, it looks like they will operate on a budget of about $11 million per year with an annual cost estimated to be $105,000 for a utility (with a single nuclear unit) participating in the Institute.
'o will continue to keep you infor.ned as further information is developed.
