Dear Com..tissioner Hendrie:

I regret that my recuest for a resident inspector at Big Rock Point has been rejected and that the NRC will be unable to assign one until 1981. I believe that a full-time resident inspect =r would improve the safety of operation of this pla=rt and would instill a greater sense of confidence in con-cerned citizens. Since this issue is one of vital concern to residents of all states in which nuclear plants are 1c>cated, I will strongly support measures at the federal level which would require resident NRC inspectors at every nuclear plant. I also will bring this matter to the attention of the governors at the next mee*"mg of the National Governors'. Association. Kind personal regards. Sincerely, s , g5 A M Governor D..
