" Government"), as represente<~ oy the UNITED STATES NUCLEAR REGULATORY C0iG11SSIO!1 (hereinafter referred to as the " Commission") and VIRGINIA POLYTECHNIC IriSTITUTE AiiD STATE UtilVERSITY (hereinafter referred to as the " Contractor"),
WITNESSETH THAT:
WHEREAS, the parties desire to modify Contract No.14RC-04-77-134 as hereinafter provided, and this supplemental agreement is authorized by law, including the Energy Reorganization Act of 1974, as amended, and the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended.
NOU, THEREFORE, said Contract is hereby modified as follows:
1.
Appendix A, attached to this supplemental agreement and made a part hereof, provides for the research to be performed by the Contractor during the contract period specified therein.
2.
In Article II - The Pe-iod of Performance, the date " June 30, 1980" is substituted for the date " June 30, 1979".
3.
In Article III - Consideration, the sum "$202,633.00" is substituted for the sum "$141,973.00".

(a)
The t.nclascified scope of work under this contract entitled, " Central Virginia Regional Seismic Network" is as follows:
1.
Maintain and operate an eighteen station seismograph network.
~
2.
Conduct velocity studie, based on two extensive refraction profiles in central Virginia and Giles County, Va., including the completion of a computer technique to remove the curvature effect from the refracted wave front.
3.
Determine the current hypocenters and relocate historic shocks using the joint hypotenter determination technique developed by Dewey of USGS.
4.
Correlate resulting seismicity with local and regional geology.
Publish all phases, locations, magr.itudes and fault plane results in the bi-annual Southeastern United States Seismograph Network Bulletin.
(b)
The Principal Investigator expects to devote the following approximate amount (s) of time to tr.e contract work:
