. BOARD OF CHOSEN FREEHOLDERS CAPE MAY COUNTY, NEW ]ERSEY RESOLUTION No.(p05 M 9 RESOLUTION URGING CERTAIN CRITERIA BE ESTABLISHED REGARDING NUCLEAR GENERATING FACILITIES WHEREAS, the recent nuclear accident which occurred at the Three-Mile Island Nuclear Facility near Middletown, Pennsylvania, has caused grave concern throughout the County and the public has been made painfully aware of the dangers which are inherent in nuclear generating facilities, and this Board feels that a certain criteria should be established regarding nuclear generating facilities; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of Chosen Freeholders of the County of Cape May, that this Board urges the following criteria be established by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission:

1.

A moratorium on all new nuclear site construction.

2 A complete safety inspection of existing generating facilities.

3.

Nuclear Regulatory Commission certification of operating personnel.

4 Evacuation plans drawn and tested for Cape May County and adj acent counties.

5.

The nuclear waste issue resolved.

6.

Price-Anderson Act procedures and benefits to be satisfactorily addressed and legally tested regarding the Three-Mile Island Nuclear Facility.

7.

The consumer rates should not increase; the expenses of such nuclear accidents should be borne by the utility and the stockholders.

8.

The nuclear site decontamination and disposal problems must be solved.

9.

Alternative methods of energy should be immediately addressed.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a certified copy of this resolution be distributed to the Nuclear Regulatory Cornission and to our Representatives in Congress and Legislature, to the Officials of Disaster Control and the public press.
