Potential Defect Reporting Under 10 CFR. Part 21, Section 206 of Energy Reorganfzation Act Gentlemen:
This letter, in triplicate, supplements and amends our report submitted to the Nuc'. ear Regulatory Comission, Region 3 Office dated April 10, 1979.
The ir. formation submitted in this supplementary and amended report is the result of research by Bettis Corporation and the Henry Pratt Company throunh currant da te.
Similar Ecuipent in service This section supplements the April 10, 1979 report to comply with the under-taking by Henry Pratt Company to report on similar ecuipment in service.
Bettis Corporation / Henry Pratt Company have detennined that additional ASCO J
Hedel solenoij valves contain plastic discholders end/or botton parts with similar radiation and temperature ratirigs as reported previously.
Such ASCO solenoid valves have been furnished as accessories with actuator /
valve assemblies to fluclear Power Plants for containment or related service wherein the environmental conditions may exceed the ratings for the plastic
- material.

' ended Corrective Action Henry Pratt Company will notify, by Septee.ber 15, 1979, the Power Plants listed herein of this potential defect for their review and evaluation as celated to the safety impact.
Such notifica tion Will also include ir.forration about currently available qualified solenoid valves which the Power. Plants-may use in taking any necessary corrective action.
