ICC7R20 Report of Exposure

Dear Mr. Grier,

This telecopy is to confinn a conversation between the flRC Duty Officer at the NRC Incident Response Center and Mr. J. B. Logan, Unit II Superintendent retropolitan Edison, at 2130 hours0.0247 days <br />0.592 hours <br />0.00352 weeks <br />8.10465e-4 months <br /> on 29 August 1979.

The following report is submitted in accordance with Paragraph 20.403(b) of Tii-le 10 Part 20 of the Code of Federal Regulations.

At cpproximately 1600 on 29 August 1979 it was determined that six (6) individuals have exceeded the limits specified in ICCFR20.10, specifically all showed Beta radiation exposure in excess of 7.5 Rem to the skin of the,; hole body or Beta radiation ex;.asure in cxcess of 18.75 Rem to the extrenity.

!!o over enpcsures to Gar.a radiation occurred with any of the individuals.

The over ex;asures occurred while the individuals were involved in the repair of two (2) leaking valves in the make-up system of TMI-II, cnd vas a result of not proparly recognizing and identifying the Beta-exposure rate in the work area.

The individuals involved have.been restricted from enterino,the_ controlled..

areas of the plant.

Further investigations into the exposures of the individuals is being conducted to positively identify the exact levels of exposure.

Additional details will be provided in the follow-up report.
