Action on Previous Suivey Findings (Closed) Follow-up Items (Report No. 78-01):

The following items were addressed as follow-up items during the previous survey:

Item 1.

The blank commission cards cre now being maintained in a locked desk. The " Procedures for National Board Commissions-National Board Commission Renewals and Nuclear Endorsements" now contains a statement assigning the Secretary of Commissions the responsibility for security of the cards.

Item 2.

National Board management indicated that they feel that the-responsibility for checking background information on experience and qualifications for inspectors seeking commissions rests with the AIA.

They also indicated that the responsibility for security checks rests with the state jurisdictions.

Item 3.

Resumes for each training instructor are now being maintained in the National Board training files.

Item 4 A system for controlling the Naticnal Board Procedures Manual which includes placing a controlling number in each manual is being implemented.

Item 5.

Procedure NB 8.1, Unannounced Visits and Investigaticns by National Board Representatives, which establishes a system for the cuatrol of ccmplaints and includes follow-up,

Exit Meetina An exit meeting was conducted on March 23, 1979, at the conclusion of the survey, with managenent representatives of the National Board as indicated by an asterisk in Section A. above.

The inspector commended National Board for the action taken on the follow-up items identified in Survey Report No. 99900617/78-01.

The inspector discussed the results of this survey and the items identified in this report as follow-up items.

The inspector stressed that the follow-up items were for the USNRC Review Committee and required no response or other action on the part of National Board.
