Midland Sump Tests August 2. 1979 TEST 1 Purpose To demonstrate the effectiveness of the Erstinr. c.,ge to suppreas vertices.
Flow conditionn: Water surface el. 597.55 Discharge 7800 spa Temperature 1000 F (for demonstration pu poses only)
(1) Vithout stating casa supply artificial trashrack blockage to force internal vertices from surp vall, floor or ceiling.
(11) With the flow conditions unaltered and with the above selected blockage condition install the grating care to domonstrate its effectiveness in suppressing all vortices.
(iii)Rapaat (1). (ii) at raxitcus flow if desired.
TEST 2 Furpose To deconstrate the effectiveness of the combination of the trashrack and the grating cage to produce tranquil flow conditions in the suep.
Flav conditions: k*ater surface el. 597.55 Discharge 7800 gru Temperaturs 100 F (for demonstration purposes only)
(1) When trashrach is not blockdd.
(ii) When trashrack is 50% blocked.
(iii) Repeat (1). (11) at caximus flow if desired.
TEST 3 purpose:
To demonstrate that the intake lo'sses in.
id at trashrsch and sucrp intake.
(1) Are acceptable.
(ii) Are not significantly changed by the presence of the grating cage.
