Di. Joseph M. Hendrie, Chairman U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Wasnington, Dc 20555

Dear Dr. Hendrie:

I am very concerned about the upcoming decontamination of the Dresden I reactor in Illinois. According to my understanding, the Environmental Impact Statement for the procedure has not been completed.

I urge that the EIS be completed before the decontamination is allowed to procede.

I am very concerned about the disposal of the highly corrosive and radioactive solvent that will be left after the decontamination is complete. What plans have been made for the safe disposal of this very dangerous material?

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Sincerely, 49 Amy Jo Berk cc:

Dr. Harold Denton, Director U.S. Nuclear Reactor Regulation i
