Dear Mr. Cohen:
I have been informed of your desire to be apprised of hearings and legal actions in connection with any possible restart of the Three Mile Island, Unit 1 reactor. Accordingly, I enclose for your information a cooy of an order issued by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission on July 2,1979 requir-ing that the facility remain shut down until further order of the Commis-sion itself and directing that a public hearing be held before restart of the facility.
In order to make sure that you continue to receive timely notices of such actions, I have asked the Docketing and Service branch of the Office of the Secretary of the Commission to place your name on the appropriate service list.

In view of the variety of issues raised by the accicent at the Three *.ile Is2ana Un i t :.' o. 2 facility, the Conm.iccion presently lacl:s the requisite reasen _ble assurance that the same licensee's Three ::ile Island Unit Nc. 1 facili;y, a nuclear pcweh reactor of similar design, can be operated icithout endancering the health and safety of the public.
Accordingly, ue direct that t'.le Unir No. 1 facility, presently in a shutdo;;n condition, shall remain shut down until further order of the Cc=.ission itself.
