70-1207 Applicant:

U.S. Department of the Navy, Naval Surface Weapons Center (Navy)

Subject:

LICENSE AMENCMENT APPLICATIONS DATED JUNE 16, 1978, and FEBRUARY 1, 1979 Backw ind:

In an organizational transition that was started in 1974 and completed in January 1978, the Naval Weapons Laboratory at Dahlgren, Virginia and the Naval Ordance Laboratory at Silver Spring, Maryland have been consolidated into one single command, the Nav61 Surface Weapons Center.

Navy has requested that Material License No. SNM-ll47 be amended to show this change.

They also advise that Mr. William G. Neall has been designated RSO for this license.

Discussion:

The change of organizational title does not affect the radiological safety, nuclear safety or environmental considerations that led to the issuance of this license.

The license does not specify an authorized user or a RSO.

Recommendations:

It is reco.nmended that the license be amended to show the new organizational name and that the license be advised that we are aware of the appointment of the new R$0.
