In accordance with requirements of 10 CFR Part 71.61, we are notilying you that the Tennescee Valley Authority (TVA) has discovered a problem with its low-level radioactive waste shipping container (I. D. No. USA /6722/3( )).
The problem involves the package impact limiter. The top corner drop analysis, beginning on pa,e 31 of the sasety analysis report, is inadequate. A q
reanalysis is bei;., performed, the results of which will be utilized in the new impact limiter design.
We request that you revise Certificate of Compliance '!o. 6722 for this package from Type 3 to Tyne A.
During the period of noncompliance, all shipnents cade in this tsk ucre qualified for c Type A container. We will not make any shipments requiring a Type 3 container in this cask until recertification has been cocpleted.
