APRIL 27, 1979 MEETING. WITH CONSUMERS POWER COMPANY ON SMALL PRIMARY C0OLA:iT SYSTEM LEAK A brief meeting was held with David Bixel, Consumers Power Company (CPCo)l on April 27, 1979, to discuss the small primary system leak experience at Big Rock Point. A list of attendees is attached.
At the time of the meeting not much was known about the source of the leak.
CPCo suspected a weld leak but they were not sure the crack could be located by UT methods.
Everyone at the meeting was aware of a similar 1.:ak and repair at Oyster Creek a few years ago. CPCo personnel (Roger Huston, et al) were at Combustion Engineering (CE), supplier of the reactor vessel, discussing the leak and possible repair methods. A team of Gent cal Electric, CE, MPR, and CPCo people were investigating the problem.
Joe Collins, NRC/IE, wanted definite information of the laak, i.e.,
if testing could not show the source of the leak, he wants to be assured that the leak is not through the vessel to the thimble. CPCo committed to send a better drawing
'of the configuration since it was not clear how the cl, inlay and the thimble were attached. A drawing of the thimble provided by CPCo is attached as.
