Mr. James G.

Keppler Regional Director, Region III United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission 799 Roosevelt Road Glen Ellyn, IL 60137 ULNRC-319 Callaway Plant

Dear Mr. Keppler:

Units 1 & 2 NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION IE BULLETIN NO. 79-09

Reference:

J.

G.

Keppler letter April 17, 1979 Your letter dated April 17, 1979, forwarded the subject IE Bulletin.

This Bulletin concerns the use of General Electric type AK-2 circuit breakers in safety related systems.

Bechtel Power Corporation, the architect engineer for Callaway Plant, Units 1 & 2, has determined that our design does not utilize this type of circuit brecker in the NSSS or balance of plant portions of the Plant.

Since none of these circuit breakers are used or are planned for use, Items 2 and 3 of this Bulletin are not applicable.

If you have further questions in this matter, please contact us.

Very truly yours, 7
