Dear Mr. MacDonald:
The Ames Laboratory, US Department of Energy at and operated b-Ltate University, Ames, Iowa, 50011 wishes to be registered as a use. or Radio-active Material Shipping Cask Model No. LL-50-100.
Various shippers will be contracted by the Ames Laboratory to provide transportation and disposal services as the Ames Laboratory Research Reactor is being dismantled.
Two of these, Chem-Nuclear Systems, Inc and United Nuclear Corporation have indicated that they wi11 use the LL-50-100 cask, certificate of Compiiance No 6601, Revision No. 3, exoiration date Aug. 31, 1979. We are uncertain as to whether the Ames Laboratory as the source of this radioactive material to te shipped must also be registered as a user of this cask.
If such reg-istrition is required, please consider this an official request or this regi: tration.
Plans are made for a shipment using the LL-50-100 cask to be made by Chem-Nuclear Systems, Inc leaving the Laboratory on May 31 or June 1, 1979, des t.na tion Barnwel l, SC.
