Dear Mr. Monroe:
This is 3.n response to your letter about 'f.ie i4 aire Yankee nuclear plant.
The NRC. in its Order of May 24, 1979, stated ^_ hat the public health, interest or safet,i does not require the continued shutdown of the Maine Yankee plant.
In accordance with an NRC Crder of March 13, 1979, the facility had been shutdown while certain safety-related piping systems were reanalyzed for Caeir response to earthquakes.
The reanalysis was completed satisfactorily cad modifications of two piping supports were made.
We appreciate your concerns and assure you that the NRC is making every effort to protect the health and safety of the public at Maine Yankee and at all other nuclear power plants.
Sincerely, k
Harold R.
