i Enclosed for your information and retention is a copy of the NRC, Region I l
Investigation Report No. 078-154 which contains the results of our radiation j
survey efforts in the Norton, Massachusetts area through December 1978 and j
the related background information. We apologize for the delay in sending you a copy of the formal report; however, the survey data is the same as had i
been previously sent to you by Mr. J. Philip Stohr of this office as enclosures to a transmittal letter from him dated December 18, 1978.
i A copy of the investigation report concerning the source of the material in the Norton, privately-owned, landfill will be forwarded when its review is completed.

At this time the responsibility for any remedial action (if required) is not cl ear. However, the NRC will continue to provide technical advice, and as had previously been discussed, additional surveys will be arranged so as to better define the extent of the radioactive material with depth prior to any further action.
