Dear Governor Garrahy:
Thank you for your ietter of May 25, 1979 in which you propose to enter into an agreement with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission under which Rhode Island would assume part of the Commission's regulatory authority over sources of ionizing radiation in Rhode Island.
We are issuing a public announcement concerning your proposal. A copy of the announcement is enclosed. We are also publishing a notice in the Federal Register inviting public comment.
Your proposal will be acted upon by the Commission af ter the expiration of a 30-day public comment period.
We will then inform you promptly of the action.
We are pleased with your interest in participating in the Commission's Agreement State program, nd look forward to the continued excellent relationship we have en oyed in the past.
