ACTIVITIES AT THREE MILE ISLAND Arrival at the TMI site was on April 17, 1979 in the midafternoon.
The remainder of that day was spent on being processed for badges and access to the island. The dates spent during the remainder of my stay consisted of April 17 - May 4, May 7 - May 11, May 14 - May 18, and May 21 - May 26.
My duties consisted of ccmpleting an environmental TLD run with Patricia Verbryke on a basis as scheduled by the IE trailer.and Radiation Management Corporation (RMC). The TLD's were located at 47 different locations in the surrounding area.
There were two sets of TLD's at each location - one changed on a regular basis and the long term set changed once monthly. Also, GM readings were taken at all locations at waist level as well as at ground level. TLD's were dropped off and picked up at RMC's headquarters.
In interim periods they were kept either in a lead box or in lead blankets for protection.
I!pon cormletion of this run the evening hours were spent assisting in the Mcbile Laboratory counting various samples, calculating results, calibration techniques, etc. When time permitted during the latter weeks, many hours were spent on helping to prepare a report of all environmental monitoring data since March 28 for the EPA under the supervision of Bob Bares.
I have no comments regarding licensee, IE or NRC operations at TMI since my respcnsibilities were limited to matly offsite monitoring and not in direct contact with onsite and inplant activities.
