Dear Mr. & Mrs. Sherman and William:
This is in res::onse to ycur letter of May 2,197?, regarding One Mair.e Yankee Atomic Pcwer Station.
On May 24,1979 we terninated the Order to Shcw ^ause issued March 13, 1979, which related tc Maine Yankee seismic design concerns, therecy allowing the facility to resume power coerstion. This action was taken after we deter-mined that the public health, interest or safety c'd not require the con-tinued shutdown of the facility. A copy of our May 24, 1979 Termination of Order to Shcw Cause is enclosed for your infor.aticn Although unrelated to the issues of the Order, the licensee's reponse to NRC requested information/ action related to tne Three Mile Island Unit 2 (TMI-2) accident was reviewed in a preliminary manner prior to terminating the Order.
Based on this review, we detemined that the licensee had taken actions to provide added protection to the health and safety of the public. Our detailed evaluation of tne licensee's res;ense is still in orogress and when ccmclete will be availaole in the NRC puolic document recm at the Wiscasset Public Library.
