Mr. James G. Partlow

Subject:

CONSOLIDATION OF AFL INVENTORY

Dear Mr. Partlow:

This to record the subject of our telephone conversations of July 5th and 6th.

To reiterate: A large portion of the residual U. S. Government-owned Plutonium exists as ultinate product in a large number of tamper-safed small items.

Before taking this material back from us, the Department of Energy wish us to consolidate this into a smaller number of larger items.

With your concurrence, we shall proceed to do this as follows.

The consolida-tion will take place using the two-man rule under tamper-safed conditions.

Te evaluate the new items, the statistical combination of the analytical data will be applied to the new net weights.

The material involved is mixed oxide powder and pellets and is expected to go to a government facility for re-cycle.

Very truly vours, ws sd -
