General Elcctric Company Switchgear Business Department Burlington Manufacturing Operations Docket No. 99900311/79-01 NOTICE OF DEVIATION Based on the results of an NRC inspection conducted on May 21-23, 1979, it appears that certain of your activities were not conducted in full compliance with NRC requirements as indicated below:
Criterion V of Appendix B to 10 CFR 50 states in part, " Activities affecting quality shall be prescribed by documented instructions, procedures, or drawings and shall be accomplisted in accordance with these instructions, prcce-dures, or drawings A.
The Master Lists for gage calibration of the Switchgear Business Department state that the calibration frequency for micrcmeters and calipers shall be on a three (3) month schedule.
Contrary to the above:
1.
Two (2) outside diameter micrometers, serial numbers 405 and 406, were calibrated on December 21, 1978, and were not recalibrated until May 1,.1379s.,
2.
Dial caliper, serial number 418, was calibrated on November 28, 1978, and was not recalibrated until March 6, 1979.
3.
GE-20, Mitutoyo inside diameter cierc=eter, due for calibration March 11, 1979, had not been calibrated as of May 23, 1979.

Quality Assurance Manual Sectica F-1, Calibration and Maintenance of
. Verify Measuring / Test Equipeent, paragraph 5.0, states in part, that equipcent in possession is properl identified with calibratica labeling....
Contrary to the above, GE-2, Fowler drop gage and GE-87 0.001" sicrometer, had no calibration labeling to prcperly identify the instruments or instrument holders.
