Dear Mr. MacDonald:
This is in response to your letter of 30 May 1979 in which you requested additional information on Nuclear Assurance Cor-poration's Quality Assurance program to implement the require-ments of 10CFR71, Appendix E.
A total rewrite of the NAC Quality Assurance Manual was well underway with procedures to implement the requirements of Appendix E when your request was received.
After reviewing the status of the manual, it was decided to complete the manual and then prepare a matrix of your questions and the response in specific NAC procedures.
This would not only be responsive to your request but would show how the answers would be implemented in the procedures.
Seven copies of the draft QAM are being submitted for NRC's review.
NAC will complete the coordination among the various internal organizations and then publish the manual.
There may be se ae wording changes but the substance of the manual will be as presented in the draft.
We plan to use this manual on all future programs in a graded approach depending on the complexity, criticality, and/or safety considerations of the program.
If you have any questions regarding the draft QAM, please contact me.
