PRAIRIE ISLAND NUCLEAR GENERATING PLANT Dockets No. 50-282 and No. 50-306 In further response to Item 10 of IE Bulletin 79-06A - Revision 1, the following is offerec:
All safety-related maintenance and test procedures were reviewed to insure they include requirements to assure operability of the redundant safety-related system prior to removal of any safety-related system from service.
Techn!. cal Specifications have always contained this requirement, and it has been adhered to.
It was found that some procedures could be improved by modification requiring more formal documentation of the verification of operability.
All safety-related maintenance and test procedures were revie"ed to insure that functional testing of equipment 13 required before returning the equipment to service. No procedure modifications were required as a result of this review.
It is felt the procedures could be further improved by the addition of independent verification of switch and valve position in those portions of procedures which rettrn systems to service.
Modification of frequcntly-used procedures will be completed by July 31, 1979. Modification of infrequently-used procedures will be complete before their next use.
