Three Mile Island Nuclear Station, Unit 1 (TMI-1)
Operating License No. DPR-50 Docket No. 50-289 On May 7, 1979 we received an NRC request for information concerning the
" adequacy of station electric distribution system voltages".
Specifically, the NRC letter requested that certain analyses be performed to demonstrate that adequate voltages are avai'able to start and operate Engineered Safe-guards Components.
We began the ef.= ort ir this area, but as a result of limited resources following the accident at TMI-2, we found that it would not be possible to complete the effort within the time fra e outlined in the above mentioned NRC letter.
Therefore, in a letter dated June 25, 1979, we requested an extension of time to allcw us to complete our analysis.
At that time, we expressed out intentien to submit our response b" August 1, 1979.
We are currently involved in discussions with your staff concerning details of your request. We have also found that due to resource limitations and the magnitude of the effort involved, it will not be possible to submit our response by August 1, 1979 as t had intended.
However, please be advised that we will respcnd to the concerns raised in the above mentioned NRC letter prior to returning TMI-l to power operation.
