B&W-1538, Rev. 1 " Assumptions, Methodology and Acceptance Criteria Report for Asynnetric LOCA Loads Evaluation" transmitted in letter of July 16, 1979, J. H. Taylor, B&W to S. B.
Hosford, NRC
Dear Sir:
Three Mile bland Nuclear Station Units 1 & 2 (TMI-l & TVI-2) uperating License Nos: DPR-50: TMI-l & DPR-73 : TMI-2 Docket Nos: 50-289: TMI-1 & 50-320: TMI-2 In response to the NRC letter dated January 25, 1978, we as a participant of the B&W 177 FA Owners Group, have been pursuing a multi-phased program to evaluate the effect of asy=cetric LOCA loads.
By letter dated May 18,1979 (GQL 0697), you were advised of the results of Phase I of our analysis.
Also included in that letter was an outline for Phase II.
The termination date for Phase II, at that time, was identified as mid-March, 1980.
Please be advised that the NRC required analyses subsequent to the accident at TyI-2, have occupied the time of key EsW personnel. This has resulted in a delay in the Phase II prot. ram completion. The new cc:rpletien date is July, 1980. As was discussed with you earlier this year, seismic loads will not be combined with LOCA loads during Phase II of our analysis.
