During consideration of the F:Y 1980 NRC Authori:ation bill (H.R. 2608) on May 1, 1979, men'oers of the Subcommittee on Energy G Environment cxpressed concern about the NRC's evacuation plannin.g requirements and its treatment of those r e qu ir em en.t s in licensing.
Sp ecific ally, members questioned -
the adequacy o f NRC's guidelines and enforcement procedures.

OUESTION 17. From time to time Congressional questions are received and routed to MPA to coordinate tne responses.
Indivicual questions are assigned to various offices for actual preparaticn of the answers.
(a) What format is to be used?
ANSWER.
Each Q&A should be typed on a separate sheet, using a Gothic type element and single scacing. White-out or cut-and-paste may be used.
The original and a Xerox copy should be sent to MPA in Maryland National Bank Suilding.
It is important that MPA be provided the original copy (even though it is cut-and-paste) due to the numoer of cooies to be made for distribution to Congress and within NRC. Also, any changes required can be coordinated with the offices by pnone and then put into the original copy at the Maryland National Bank Building.
CUESTION.
(b) Are there any other comments that should be noted?
ANSWER.
When a question is assigned to more than one office -- for instance, NRR/RES/NMSS -- the first office listed is resconsible fer submitting a reply that has been coordinated with the other offices. The secondary offices should send their input to the answer to the primary office and not to MPA.
