QUALITY ASSUP.A: ICE FCR RADICACTIVE MATERIAL IPXISPCRTATIC:I Consumers Power Ccepan-/ letter dated January 11, 1979 reported the existence of an :iRC ap;rovec Quality Assurance progra= satisfying the criteria of 10 CFR 50, Appendix 3, and further reported that the existence of this pro-gas satisfied the require =ents cf 21 CFR 71.51(a) as specified by 10 CFR 71.51(d). Your letter dated May 10, 1979 requested that consumers Power specifically reference Revision 6 to the Quality Assurance (QA) Tcpical Repcrt which describes our pro pas (QA Tcpical Report CPC-1-A).
Consumers Power Cc=pany vill ase the latest revision of CPC-1-A for radic-active material transpcrtation as for all operations at our nuclear plants.
As future revisions are approved, they vill autcratically be used for all operations.
Ycur letter referred to our January 11, 1979 letter as a request for approval cf our CA pro ga= as meeting the requirements of 10 CFR 71.51.
Censumers Fever Cc pany notes that 10 CFR 71 51(d) states that the existence of a ;A progra: =eeting the requirements of 10 CFR 50, Appendix 3, is considered as cc Fliance with 10 CFR 71.;il(a) withcut further Cen=ission appro'ral.
Accord-ingly, Consu=ers Power Cc=pany censiders that further specific approval of our ;A pre g an as meeting the requirements of 10 CFR 71.51 is not required.
