STATUS OF RECOMMENDATIONS: AUDIT OF NRCS SIGNIFICANCE DETERMINATION PROCESS FOR REACTOR SAFETY (OIG-16-A-21)

REFERENCE:

DIRECTOR OF THE OFFICE OF NUCLEAR REACTOR REGULATION MEMORANDUM DATED JULY 26, 2019 Attached is the Office of the Inspector Generals (OIG) analysis and status of recommendations as discussed in the agencys response dated July 26, 2019.

Based on this response, recommendation 2 remains open and resolved.

Recommendations 1, 3, and 4 were previously closed. Please provide a status update for recommendation 2 by January 31, 2020.

Audit Report AUDIT OF NRCS Significance Determination Process for Reactor Safety OIG-16-A-21 Status of Recommendations Recommendation 2: Clarify IMC 0612 Appendix B issue screening questions, so that they are readily understood and easily applied.

Agency Response Dated July 26, 2019: Update The staff has developed a draft revision to IMC 0612 that will address this recommendation. As noted in the staffs previous status update, the staff initially planned to finalize the revision by mid-2019. However, the expected completion date has been delayed due to resources being redirected to support the Reactor Oversight Process enhancement project. The staff now plans to send the draft document out for formal review and comment by August 1, 2019 and finalize the revision by January 1, 2020.

Target date for completion: January 1, 2020
