On July 25, 2019, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff held a secure call with staff from General Electric Hitachi, Global Laser Enrichment (GLE) to discuss a proposed security plan submitted via letters dated May 30, 2019, GLE-2019-0094 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) ML19164A321) and revision dated June 27, 2019, GLE-2019-0103 (ADAMS Accession No. ML19207A091).
The NRC, in consultation with the U.S. Department of Energy, Office of Classification, determined the security plan requires modification to ensure adequate security. Therefore, GLE is evaluating if they will withdraw the proposed security plan or submit an update. The NRC and DOEs review is on hold pending a response from GLE on their proposed path forward.
